Hamilton Community Dinner - 5 December

Each month we serve a family-style dinner on long harvest tables. Join us as we eat more traditionally Canadian food, connect with new friends, and play board games.

About the Event

Helping International Students aims to create a space where international students can gather together socially to build a better community here in Canada.


The students in attendance will also have the opportunity to meet local Canadians and build relationships with them during their stay in Canada. These dinners are put on by a team of community participants who wish to love on the international students visiting their home city.


At this time, Helping International Students is limited to offering the following dietary restrictions:

  • Halal and Vegetarian.


December Dinner Menu:

  • Turkey, Stuffing, Sweet Potato, Potato, Vegetables and Dessert (there is a Vegetarian option available) with green salad

    The community dinner is served family style. Your ticket provides you with a seat at a long harvest style table, with shared food amount fellow international students and Canadian Hosts.

  • Community Volunteer Table Host

    Sale ends

    Dec 05, 1:05 p.m.

    Be the Canadian host at the table for International students. Please arrive at 5pm. Tasks: - Greeting students and families at the entrance with a warm smile - Helping guests find their seats and hosts - Directing any new arrivals to the event coordinator if needed

  • Community Volunteer - Kitchen

    Assist in preparing the meal in the kitchen. Please arrive at 3pm.

  • Community Volunteer Clean Up

    Cleanup Volunteers. Please be ready to begin once dinner concludes around 7:30 PM. Tasks include: - Clearing tables and collecting used dishes and utensils - Assisting with washing and drying as needed - Packing decorations and ensuring the hall is left clean and orderly

  • Community Volunteer Set Up

    Please arrive at 4:30 PM to assist with preparing the hall. This will include arranging decorations, organizing utensils, and ensuring the space is ready to welcome guests.
